ElevateOutdoors is about connecting people with the outdoors.
My name is Adam Luciuk and I am passionate about the outdoors! I was born in Calgary, Ab on July 19, 1988, and have lived in and around the city for the 30 years of my life. I grew up skiing and exploring the Rocky Mountains just to the west of the city, and would spend as much time as I could in the outdoors. As I got older, this time spent in the outdoors developed into a passion to help to preserve the natural environment and educate other about everything that the natural world has to offer. This passion for the outdoors and teaching now encompasses all corners of my life, including my places of employment, my schooling and how I spend my free time. I always try to do something that will help to preserve the things that I love, so others have the chance to have the same experiences that I have had. Given the opportunity, I will take the path less traveled. It makes life more interesting and everyone wants to do something that they can be proud to tell other people about.
I am a graduate from the Bachelor of Applied Ecotourism and Outdoor Leadership Program at Mount Royal University in Calgary, Alberta. During the program I studied hard (technical) and soft (interpersonal) skills related to both the outdoor leadership and ecotourism industries. I am currently living in Edmonton, Alberta where I manage Mobile Escape for Northern Alberta. Previously, I worked for YMCA Calgary as the Youth Director at the Saddletowne YMCA. In the future, I plan to continue to work in educational community-based industries and to live the outdoor life that the ETOL program has shown me is possible. When I’m not spending time in the outdoors, I’m always working on a project: planning what experience I will embark on next or looking for a creative way to share my knowledge with others. I plan to take everything that I learn through this blog into my future endeavours. That way I can help to increase the quality of the things around me and the experiences that people can have.
There are so many benefits from just spending time outside and this blog is open for sharing them! The ultimate aim is to help to spread a love for the outdoors. We are becoming more and more disconnected from our evolutionary roots with the emergence of and reliance on new technologies. Feel free to share your own thoughts and ideas about everything pertaining to the outdoors, and health and wellness. Also, share this blog, so more people can know what it is like to live balanced!
Check back regularly for ideas, links, events, experiences and everything involved with elevating the outdoors in our lives!
